About the event
Foundations in Handbuilding is designed for beginner to slightly advanced young artists ready to deepen or explore their understanding of clay. Over six weeks, students will explore structure, form, and surface while mastering pinch and coil techniques.
With extended studio time (2 hours), students will focus on craftsmanship, proper scoring and slipping, structural integrity, and creative design. Projects will include functional pottery, sculptural forms, and surface decoration techniques such as carving and texture application.
Students will leave with a strong technical foundation and several finished ceramic works, along with a deeper understanding of clay as both a functional and expressive material.
